JACK
RUSSELLS IN THE NEWS
Jack
Russell Terriers
are ever ready
to try something new as you
will
see from these News articles.
A
keen intelligence and liveliness sees them joining in many of
their humans activities and doing a bit more than just going along
for the ride!
They
also love digging, and
some need a pretty big rescue operation to dig them out from under
the ground when they become trapped.
Loyal
and protective of their owners they are sometimes known to
save the day.
Some dogs were lucky to survive so
don't forget to
install good fences to
keep
your JRTs safe.
BBC News
Cornwall UK 2008
Three
people are being treated for hypothermia after they went into the sea
to save a dog in Cornwall.
The Jack Russell terrier got into difficulty at Whipsiderry, Newquay.
After failing to rescue the dog, the three managed to make their way
back to shore to waiting paramedics and were treated at the scene.
Both of the town's lifeboats were launched - one of them picked up the
dog, which was then taken to a local vet for an examination. After the
three people managed to get back to shore, the dog was still
in the water and swimming frantically in circles.
As the Newquay D-class lifeboat
Valerie Wilson rounded a corner, the
dog spotted it and started to swim towards it. The lifeboat came as
close to the dog as was safe but was still a few
metres away.
A crew member entered the water and swam to the dog. He then swam back
to the lifeboat with the animal.

Navy
to
Rescue as
Old Biddy is Swept out to Sea
May 2007 New Zealand
The Royal New Zealand
Navy has always prided itself on its rapid response to an emergency at
sea, so when a jack russell terrier was swept 800m offshore it
immediately began a rescue mission.
Biddy, a 17-year-old jack russell
terrier, was swept from her Stanley
Bay home to the mudflats at Ngataringa Bay, near the Devonport naval
base.
A passer-by noticed the small shivering dog and a rising tide and
alerted the Navy's sea safety training squadron.
Naval leading chef Regan Garrett
volunteered to go to Biddy's rescue,
stripping down to his underwear and braving the cold to wade into the
mud and water.
The dog was
suffering from hypothermia so naval general service hand
Steve Davis took the bedraggled Biddy to the vet. By good luck it was Biddy's usual
vet and owner Judy Grieve was quickly
tracked down.

why when one dog - Moet -

It
took police and an

And they
call it puppy love
Southern
Counties UK
2008
When Dogs Trust Shoreham Rehoming Centre received five "day old" Jack
Russell Terrier puppies that had been rejected by their mother the only
way the centre could care for them was by hand rearing them.
Being a Dogs Trust Canine Carer
Dogs Trust Canine Carer, Elaine Potter agreed to be the puppies
surrogate mum as she had previously hand reared puppies.
Hand rearing puppies is just as demanding as caring for a new born baby
as they need constant care and attention, as well as bottle feeding
every couple of hours throughout the day and night.
